Version 2020.550/555 Released - Report Runner Batch, Viewer, and Documentor

Batch:

  1. NEW: You can now use jn-Variables in your post batch SQL queries; to be extra careful we don't break anything with this feature it is turned OFF by default; to enable it add/set ReplaceJNVariablesInSQL=YES under the [Options] group in JNRRB.INI; the values available will be based on whatever the last job was/is.
  2. NEW: You can now display your SQL queries in the log file; this, too, is OFF by default; to enable it add/set ShowSQLQueryInLog=YES under [Options] group in JNRRB.INI
  3. NEW: We've add 3 INI settings to disable setting IDs and passwords on Access/Excel, XBase, and XML connections; this is useful for those cases where you need to set an ID and password for your SQL connections, but you also have non-SQL data in your report or a sub-report; previously you had to create an advanced data connection to set different IDs and password; it can be disabled by adding/setting DisableIDAndPasswordsForAccessExcelConnections=1, DisableIDAndPasswordsForXBaseConnections=1, and/or DisableIDAndPasswordsForXMLConnections=1 under [Options] in JNRRB.INI
  4. NEW: Created an "automatic analysis" function for common email errors; additional messages will be added to the log file and also shared when testing new mail connections
  5. UPDATED: Tweaked the XLS/XLSX post processing to skip unnecessary file checks (and column checks within files) and added some additional log file messages to assist with debugging
  6. UPDATED: Added error correction related to temp file cleanup; some terminal server connections are "telling" our software what the temp folder is and when it goes to use it, it's gone (and it crashes the app); this has been fixed so it can't crash the app
  7. UPDATED: Numerous new log file messages added/updated; of note we now list OLE DB providers found on the machine, list database drivers, automatically check report DSNs to see if they exist on the machine and show additional error messages if not, check for existing flat file databases (like XLS, MDB, and DBF) and also point those out if they don't exist; list the specific driver the report is looking for if OLE DB connection; all of this is super helpful in assisting support in giving you specific answers as to why your report won't run
Viewer:

  4. BUG FIX: Browsing to choose export file name with only an extension as a filename will no longer crash the app
Documentor:

  1. UPDATED: Added some log file messages related to report deletion and debugging random deletion errors
---

This is not a critical release, but is highly recommended due to the new features and the new log messages which will help us with debugging. It is critical if you're not on at least version 2020.360.

As always, to update, you only need to run the Updater (just once), to update your software (no matter the current version you are on).
