Version 2013.189 Released - Report Runner Batch and Report Runner Viewer

  Print

Happy New Year!

This is a pretty big release which has been in beta testing for the last few months. Here are the updates...

---

Batch:

  1. New - PDF form processing options (add fields, add watermarks, add signatures); the way it works is you create a script file that gets executed after the report is exported to PDF; this is still being documented, and we will have a new KB article soon; we have numerous watermark images and sample scripts that will install, too to do most anything you would require
  2. New - PDF encryption of AES-256 is now available (Acrobat X or later will be needed to read these PDFs --- Note, Acrobat X/10 came out in 2010)
  3. New - PDFs can now be created in fast web view mode, also known as linearization; this allows PDF output that is posted on the internet to be opened up much quicker, after first page loads, without the need for the browser to download the entire PDF first
  4. Updated - HTML exporting; we have fixed some bugs caused by different service packs of the Crystal runtime engine; both index.htm and index.html will be created no matter what service pack you are using; this ensures the first/main page is always there no matter what service pack you use
  5. Updated - HTML exporting; there is a new JNRRB.INI setting under [Options] group called HTMLExportDoNotAppendReportNameFolder=1; this removes the report name as a folder if you are on a later service pack of the Crystal runtime engine
  6. Updated - Mail engine improved to support newer mail server technology; most of this is automatic; additional configuration of ciphers and protocols available if necessary, too; mail errors and log file messages are greatly improved, too
  7. Updated - FTP engine improved to support newer FTP server technology; most of this is automatic; additional configuration of ciphers and protocols available if necessary, too; FTP errors and log file messages are greatly improved, too
  8. Updated - Added and modified notes on interface
  9. Updated - Added numerous log file messages
  10. Updated - Modified base PDF permissions from 11001111 to 11111111; this allows users to edit PDF forms and make annotations by default (previously this was disabled by default)
  11. Updated - Added edit button for PDF script if found in batch-specific INI settings
  12. Updated - New licensing server IP address
  13. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue where data connectivity/connection issues were being automatically retried, even when running batches manually; this auto-correcting feature is great, but it should only be active when batches are scheduled, not being tested manually
  14. Bug Fix - Added data validation to naming of batch file name to ensure apostrophes are not used; if a batch XML file name is saved with apostrophes, it causes major issues and crashes
  15. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue with XLS/XLXS post processing from settings in batch-specific INI settings; this was a random issue related to delayed writes and saving of files causing $$$ files to be saved
  16. Update for Web Portal users - jnOutputFile will be ignored now if found in report; previously this caused Web Portal reports to fail
  17. Update for Web Portal users - The log file now indicates clearly if log file is for a web portal report
  18. Update for Web Portal users - All Web Portal reports will utilize the new fast web view mode automatically
  19. Update for Web Portal users - Fixed a bug with web templates being generated too fast and failing (fix had to do with temp file names not being unique)
  20. Update for Event Server users -The Mail, File, and SQL rule log files are now separated from the main Batch log files in sub-directory within Logs directory
  21. Update for Global Monitoring users - Fixed a bug where certain run times were not being saved correctly (it was related to AM/PM values); this in turn caused incorrect Global Monitoring report output
  22. Note - This release implements new DLLs for PDF, mail, FTP, and networking features

Viewer:

  1. New - Added an option to default to saved data reports when double-clicked or run via shortcuts; added a JNRRV.INI setting under [Options] group called DefaultToSavedDataReportsFirst=1
  2. New - Added an option to show security settings in Viewer if a specific Windows ID is being used; this is useful to allow administrators to edit/change security settings, including Advanced Data Connections when HideRightDataConnection is turned on; the new setting in JNRRV.INI under [Options] group is called IgnoreHideRightDataConnectionIfWindowsID=domain\username
  3. New - jnUserName@domain.com variable can be used in mail settings now to automatically use Windows username as mail address; this is mostly useful for terminal server/Citrix viewer users
  4. New - Created a slick work-around to make sure the parameter pop-up window never gets hidden/lost; if window gets hidden before parameters are entered, it will always pop back up and stay on top of all of your windows now
  5. Updated - Added numerous log file messages
  6. New for Enterprise Viewer users; close button added to login screen (ESC is still supported to exit as well)
  7. New for Enterprise Viewer users; change password option is available for users on a terminal server
  8. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue with HighPath setting when used with multiple levels of sub-directories
  9. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue with viewer windows auto-closing even after being disabled
  10. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue with previously encrypted password not being decrypted properly; this was only an issue with terminal server/Citrix users
  11. Bug Fix - Fixed an issue with report losing focus after refreshing; this enables quick keys to still be used after refreshing
  12. Update for Global Monitoring users - Fixed a bug where certain run times were not being saved correctly (it was related to AM/PM values); this in turn caused incorrect Global Monitoring report output
  13. New - In rare cases the Viewer may get hung when closing; we have added an INI setting to force the Viewer to close (this will be provided by support when/if necessary)

---

This again is a major update. It is not critical, but it is highly recommended. This has been well tested in beta mode for the last few months. If you update, you do not need to modify or add any new settings, unless you're wanting to utilize a new feature. This update will not break any existing/older features.

To update, simply download the latest update from the products information page.
