Today we are officially release Report Runner 2016 (2016.220). Here are the new features and updates...

---

Report Runner Batch:

  1. NEW! Globally disable (turn off or put on hold) ALL schedules (and any manual processing of batches); in JNRRB.INI, under [Master] group, set JNRRBSystemStatus=OFF|HOLD; OFF will prevent batches from running at all -- you would need to rerun these batches manually later; HOLD will allow them to start and simply wait... once you're ready to allow batches to run, set the status back to ON and everything will continue running. Note, this setting has no affect on batches that have already started.
  2. NEW! Zipping is now AES-256 bit encryption by default; you can reduce the protection to password protection only by setting ZipMethod=PasswordProtectOnly under JNRRB.INI [Options] group.
  3. NEW! Return receipt requested option for emails; in your batch-specific INI settings, there is a new mail option ReturnReceiptRequested=YES; receipt is sent to the From email of the batch
  4. NEW! If you export the End of Batch Notification report to File on a bursting batch, the Burst Values report and the Burst Exception report is now saved with it (previously you would have to email the End of Batch Notification report to get the other two)
  5. NEW! Delete incorrect or old email addresses from default email picklist (when you Browse email list in job edit window); previously you had to manually edit the text file in the Report Runner Batch\AppData\Settings folder
  6. NEW! Using Tools, Save As to save a copy of a batch will now also save your batch-specific INI, Header, and Footer settings
  7. NEW! When editing your burst settings in the job window, BEFORE editing your settings, you can now set the burst type to ALL instead of Selected; this speeds up the editing/setting of burst settings, because previously if you wanted to change a Selected burst to an ALL burst, you would first have to view the Selected burst (which required running the burst first), change it to ALL, exit burst, and re-edit burst to see ALL values... it's tiring just typing out the way it used to work (haha)
  8. NEW! Added a JNRRB.INI option to allow curly braces in output file names (we do a lot of auto-cleanup on output files, because so much can be data driven); in JNRRB.INI set BypassCurlyBraceRemoval=1 under the [Options] group
  9. Bug Fix: Fixed Event Server Rules editor to prevent incorrect start/end times from being saved
  10. Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where optionally sending a screenshot with helpdesk ticket was being ignored
  11. Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where post export PDF processing, if it failed, was not triggering a batch error (batch would still indicate it was successful)
  12. Updated: Added and fixed a number of log file messages
  13. Updated: Fixed a few inconsistent screen messages
Report Runner Viewer:

  1. NEW! Enterprise edition now fully supports Active Directory; there is no longer a need to create groups and users; you can now assign Active Directory groups to reports
  2. NEW! Shortcuts to RPT files (.LNK files) are now supported; if you have a shortcut to an RPT in a directory, you'll see a little link symbol in lower right corner of report icon
  3. Improved support for hidden directories; ALL directories are shown by default, but setting ShowAllDirectories=0 in JNRRV.INI under [Options] will hide hidden directories from user
  4. Bug Fix: Fixed a flashing window issue on auto-refreshed reports; previously if you had a number of auto-refreshed reports running, there would be a lot of unnecessary flashing going on (because we were forcing focus to the auto-refreshed window)
  5. Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where optionally sending a screenshot with helpdesk ticket was being ignored
  6. Updated: Added and fixed a number of log file messages
  7. Updated: Fixed a few inconsistent screen messages
Report Runner Documentor:

  1. NEW! Multiple users can now RDP into a server to use Documentor; this was previously disabled and only one user was allowed RDP access
  2. Bug Fix: A number of error catching routines added to prevent interface from crashing; there were certain interface interactions which could crash the app
  3. Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where optionally sending a screenshot with helpdesk ticket was being ignored
  4. Updated: Added and fixed a number of log file messages
  5. Updated: Fixed a few inconsistent screen messages
Report Runner Event Server (Version 2016.65):

  1. NEW! Automatically print PDFs in printer folders; In the Event Server data folder (where Input, Error, and Processed folders are located), you can now create an AutoPrint folder, and then within that folder, create folders based on printer names. Any PDFs you place in those printer folders will print automatically. This feature is great for users that want to review output before printing.
  2. NEW! View Windows Services from Event Server monitor
  3. NEW! View Windows Events Viewer (system logs and JNRRB_ES log) from Event Server monitor
  4. Updated: Fixed error messages to better explain issues with permissions when Start/Stoping Event Server service
