Error: Invalid Export DLL or Export Format (Exporting to Excel XLS) - Crystal Reports 2008

  Print

PROBLEM:

This error message "Invalid Export DLL or Export Format" exporting to Excel XLS is generally triggered by Crystal Reports templates connecting to Oracle via the Oracle ODBC driver (instead of Microsoft Oracle ODBC driver). There is an issue with the DLL "LIBPNG10.DLL".

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:

  1. Use Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle
  2. Add C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 to the environment path variables
  3. Back up the libpng10.dll in C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\bin and replace it with the libpng10.dll from c:\program files\business objects\businessobjects enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
  4. Ensure that the reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Path has a path value of
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86

---

Note, if you're needing to make these updates for our Report Runner software, the locations of registry and file paths are different:

  1. Use Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle
  2. Add C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86 to the environment path variables
  3. Back up the libpng10.dll in C:\oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\bin and replace it with the libpng10.dll from c:\program files\business objects\businessobjects enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
  4. Ensure that the reg key HKLM\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Crystal Reports\Path has a path value of
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
